*brings a plate of food over to Lavender with a small smile* *she understands how hard it is to lose a brother, she lost two afterall when she was around Lavender's age and knows that being surrounded by people is likely the last thing Lavender wants right now* *sets the plate down along with a cup of tea on a small table next to the chair*


Hello, dear. Can I get you anything else?

*looks up as Molly sets things down and gives her a weak smile* I don't suppose a push out of here would be an option? I'm on a bit of overload and I've already pushed my hip to the limit of my walking when I ducked out earlier for a little while.

Of course. *looks around and decides that the party is going strong enough that she won't be missed* *gently pushes Lavender from the living room and into the rarely used and much quieter dining room, her food trailing behind them* *shuts the door behind them and opens the windows with a flick of her wand*

There. That's better, isn't it?

*sucks in a deep breath and blows it out slowly, closing her eyes as she rubs at her arms, settling her ruffled silks in around her once more* Yes. Much. *her eyes open, pale blue lavender, and catch Molly as she smiles softly* It's one of those days where it's hard to resist drinking that happiness like an excellent wine.

Ah, but if I give in, it's rather like an alcoholic returning to the bottle. *soft sighs* I do drink it in, just by seeing it. Seeing the smile on the face of someone you love is the most brilliant feeling. Just like sorrow or fear are the knives that cut our hearts out. Happiness is wearing after a while, Mrs. Weasley, when it's not my own.

Oh. *flushes, with a shy smile* He is doing so much better. Doog's a big help, I think, and Ethan's brilliant.

And Charlie, he's *bites her lip, but the smile still escapes and grows* brilliant, too. Wouldn't have made it through the last weeks without him and and Shay. You raised a wonderful man, Mrs. Weasley.

*looks at a picture of the family on the wall and smiles again* Thank you. I certainly tried with all of them. *eyes linger for a moment on the picture before turning her gaze back to Lavender*

Shay and Charlie and Mum, mostly. Mel's been angry with me. *casts a glance at the door to the other room and sighs softly* I've leaned on Shay and Charlie most, though, since Lynx died. I don't think they'd have let me leave the hospital if it weren't for them.

It's hard to lose a sibling. When.. *swallows* Ginny passed, it took such a toll on all the boys. Bill left the country all together. *sadly* We've not really been the same since it happened.

Your sister is rather young, dear. Death is something that's hard on all of us, but when you're so young.. *pats her arm softly*

I remember what it was like. *the words come out harder than she intends, and she presses her lips together, hands tightening into fists* I have the vaguest memories of my dad; I was young when he died, too young, really, to remember much. I remember people who I knew dying at Hogwarts. I remember Ginny dying. I just lost Padma, and Parvati in one gulp and then I lost Lynx and I should've done something to stop it. *fights with herself to stop talking, pressing her lips together and turning her head away, arms crossed and pulled in tight*

Death isn't hard. It's impossible.

*swallows hard* *speaks softly, still looking away* I can't give Melody what she wants. I tried to be there for her and she pushed me away. Can't just wave a wand and fix it like I did when I was little, because projecting is wrong. Her time with Hestia this summer will be good for her.

We're not always meant to save the ones we love from pain. *voice is full of emotion as she speaks* I can't begin to count how many nights I laid awake wondering if there was more I could have done to protect my brothers or my daughter. And when Charlie was taken from us.. *sighs softly*

In the end, you have to remember that we all have a purpose in this world. We all have a path to take. *moves her hand to Lavender's chin and gently brings the girl's gaze to her* Blaming yourself is not going to bring any of them back. All you can do is take your expriences and learn from them. I know that doesn't seem like much comfort at the moment, but if you allow yourself to mourn without changing your actions... then that is the only way their deaths have truly been in vain.

*small tight smile* I'm changing my actions. I've learned. Mum's learned. Mel will learn someday... she misses so much of it, because she's not truly in the wizarding world, and she doesn't see anything but the fun of it.

I'm not suggesting you make it all better for her, of course. Each person needs to make their life better for themselves.. no matter how old they are.

No! *vaguely horrified* But I can't rub her nose in it any further than it's already been rubbed. I tried to help at the funeral and she wouldn't even stay with me while Charlie was there.

*quietly* That's why I think the summer with Hestia will be good for her. I'm going to move out of Mum & Papa's house again sometime. I don't know when, since I need to be able to walk first, and I need to launch my new project so I know where I'm going. But I won't be there forever, and she won't let me help her while I'm there now.
